Florida continues to rank among the nation’s leaders for air quality.
According to the American Lung Association 2026 State of the Air report, more than half of Florida’s monitored counties earned an “A” grade for ozone pollution, with 21 counties ranking among the cleanest in the country.
Even more impressive, no Florida county made the list of the 25 most polluted places to live in the United States.
Here on the Gulf Coast, both Sarasota County and Manatee County received strong air quality marks. Just another reason why so many families, retirees, and professionals across the country are relocating to the Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch area.
Nationally, the report found that nearly 152 million Americans still live in areas with unhealthy levels of ozone or particle pollution, making Florida’s rankings stand out even more.

It’s one of the most common questions buyers (and sellers) ask: how can two homes on the same street, with nearly identical layouts and square footage, have completely different price tags? On paper, they should be worth about the same—but real estate doesn’t work on paper alone. Value is driven by perception, condition, and features that go beyond basic stats. The moment you step inside, those differences become obvious, and buyers respond accordingly.
One of the biggest factors is condition and updates. A home with a renovated kitchen, modern flooring, and updated bathrooms can easily command tens of thousands more than a similar home that feels dated. Buyers today are highly sensitive to move-in readiness—they don’t just calculate the cost of renovations, they factor in the time, effort, and inconvenience. On top of that, things like roof age, HVAC systems, and even paint color can subtly influence how a home is perceived. Two homes might be the same ...

If you’ve recently moved to Southwest Florida and someone casually mentions “love bug season,” your brain might immediately go to Herbie the Love Bug—a friendly Volkswagen Beetle with personality and charm. Unfortunately, what they’re actually talking about is far less cinematic and a little more… airborne. Real love bugs are small flying insects that show up twice a year (typically late spring and early fall), and they have a very specific talent: appearing everywhere at once.
The reason they’re called “love bugs” is because you’ll almost always see them in pairs—literally attached while flying around like tiny, slightly confused drones. They’re harmless to people (no biting, no stinging, no interest in your personal space beyond accidental collisions), but they do have one annoying habit: they absolutely love your car. Windshields, bumpers, side mirrors—you name it. A short; ...
